They say a picture is worth a thousand words. What do you want to say?
The excitement and trepidation of living on your own for the first time? The joy and pride you feel watching your nephews play soccer?
There are several ways you can capture emotion and detail on your album pages.
Don’t worry about grammar and spelling. It’s the essence of the story that matters. Besides, your English teacher probably won’t be reading it.

Quick captions
This is the most basic style of journalling. Simply answer questions about the photo.
• Who is pictured?
• What is happening?
• Where, when and why was it taken?
Storytelling
This style of journalling uses descriptive phrases or personal anecdotes to describe the experience. Imagine yourself sharing your photos with a friend. Now write what you would tell them.
Journal enhancements
This style of journalling allows you to enhance your journalling with outlines, quotes or phrases to say just what you want to say in a meaningful – or perhaps whimsical – way.
You may choose one favourite approach, or try a little of each. What’s important is telling the story, getting it down before the details get fuzzy.
Give it a try. You’ll be so glad you did.
